Cebuana Lhuillier and UMak Forge Stronger Ties with New Partnerships
In a significant move to enhance educational and community development, Cebuana Lhuillier President and CEO Jean Henri D. Lhuillier recently hosted an appreciation dinner for University of Makati (UMak) President Elyxzur Ramos and his management team at the PJL Museum in Ayala-Alabang, Muntinlupa. The event, which featured the signing of a new Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), marks the expansion of collaborative efforts between the two institutions, further solidifying their commitment to quality education and social responsibility.
This event follows a prestigious recognition for Jean Henri D. Lhuillier, who received a Doctor of Laws Honoris Causa from UMak during their Mid-year Commencement Exercises on April 26, 2024. Mayor Abby Binay conferred this honor, acknowledging Lhuillier’s exceptional contributions to societal welfare and his visionary leadership in the business sector. Cebuana Lhuillier, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm, the Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation, Inc. (CLFI), has long been a champion of educational initiatives and community development. Under Lhuillier’s leadership, CLFI partnered with UMak on programs such as the Nationwide Scholarship Program, Student Insurance Coverage, and the IT Olympics. These initiatives have benefited thousands of students, offering financial support, insurance, and platforms to showcase their IT skills.
The new MOA cements several existing and new partnership programs. Key among these are the MSME Coaching Program by Cebuana Lhuillier’s Ka-Negosyo Center, the Financial Literacy and Project Management Learning Management System by CLFI powered by Xepto, and the continuation of the IT Olympics and student insurance coverage by Networld Capital Ventures, Inc. (NCVI) and Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Brokers (CLIB), respectively.
These agreements represent a mutual commitment to support and develop the student community, marking another milestone in the Cebuana Lhuillier-UMak partnership.
Among the notable attendees were Jean Henri D. Lhuillier, Jonathan Batangan (Executive Director of CLFI), Anthony Lou Bernabe (CLIB Group Head), Ergilio Ong (Chief Information Officer/ NCVI Group Head), Allan Paul Malig (Chief Technology Officer/ NCVI Group Head), Annette Yvette Tirol (Customer Engagement and Market Development Group Head), and other members of the Cebuana Lhuillier management committee.
