The Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation recently launched the Davao leg of its Barangay Cebuana Resilience Exchange (BCRX) initiative, empowering the local PJ Lhuillier employee volunteer group to support their communities during disasters.
This event, supported by 41 enthusiastic participants, mainly area heads from various areas in the Davao Region, showcases the company’s dedication to giving back to the communities where it operates its businesses.
BCRX volunteers, known as Cebuana Rapido, undergo regular training and workshops designed to equip them with the skills to lead efficient evacuations and responses during disasters. Jean Henri Lhuillier, president and CEO of PJ Lhuillier Group of Companies, highlighted the crucial role of employee safety and disaster readiness in building resilient communities.
CLFI Executive Director Jonathan Batangan and PJLI Chief Administrative Officer Jo-Ann Tacorda (JYT) shared their insights on the importance of empowering Cebuana’s employees.
“By training Cebuana Rapido volunteers to act swiftly and effectively during disasters, BCRX is enhancing community resilience and fostering a culture of preparedness and mutual support. This initiative prepares volunteers to help during emergencies and strengthens the bond between Cebuana and the communities it serves,” explained Batangan.
The volunteers verbalized their commitment with a manifesto reading led by Batangan and signed waivers to ink their dedication to disaster response. CLFI gave them Cebuana Rapido vests and pins to signify their readiness to serve during crises.
This initiative highlights PJLI’s ongoing efforts to empower its employees to take proactive roles in disaster preparedness and response, ultimately strengthening the safety and resilience of communities nationwide.
